You’ve probably heard of 4k and 1080p. Maybe even 5k, 8k, Red, Go Pro, Black Magic, DSLR, etc., etc. When preparing for your next educational video production or healthcare video production project, what is the right choice? It depends.
There are pros and cons to all cameras and formats, but here are a few things to ask yourself. What is the budget? Where is it going to be viewed? What is the shelf life? 1080p is often less expensive to produce. If your audience is watching on mobile devices or personal computers, 1080 is probably just fine. However, if your video will be projected, like in a theater, or even shown on a large screen TV, 4k might be the right choice.
Do you want to be able to use this footage for several years? 4k or higher is a good idea. Another benefit of 4k, even when delivering 1080p, is the ability to shoot an interview with one camera but create both a wide shot and a medium shot composition. These are just a few examples.
At Elephant Productions, we can help you decide what the best approach is for your project and budget.
