I see on social media that Elephant Productions has been in business for 30 years thisyear.I know the date and I know that it’s true, but I still have a hard time believing it. If not for the social posts I wouldn’t be giving it much thought. In lots of ways these are just more days of another year.
But the more I think of it the more magic it becomes. I don’t know how we’ve managed to survive this industry for this long. Hell, I don’t even know how those social posts get out except that I’m surrounded by smart people who do.
And that is the essence of the magic itself. From day 1 – and not just with Elephant – this industry and this profession has surrounded me with smart and generous people.
As a completely awestruck newbie, those smart people tolerated my questions, mistakes, and corny humor.
As I developed more understanding of the industry my colleagues guided me as I had more questions, made more mistakes, and delivered more corny humor.
And as Elephant was born, along with a great business partner, our employees and vendors helped me continue to learn and grow; always bringing something new to the table and always helping us to deliver the best product that we could for clients.
Our clients have been the economy of Elephant all these years. Their trust of our relationship and of our work has driven us through these decades and allowed us to survive in the best and worst of times. My never-ending gratitude goes to all of them.
But our team has been the soul of Elephant. That team has been a wonderful living entity made of freelance talent to rival any in the world, great vendor and support firms that add to our local industry and most importantly our employees. Those employees, past and present, have shared pieces of their minds and hearts with us to make this little project not only enduring, but rewarding and fun. There would be no Elephant Productions without them.
From the very bottom of my heart, thank you – all of you – for helping to keep this ride going.
