What are some of the location challenges you’ve had? How do you prepare for filming in a rugged environment? Our clients at the UT Health and Safety Training Center had a healthcare video production project that required us to film a first aid video in a couple of active above ground mines. In addition to taking a safety training course, the crew wore steel toed shoes, hardhats, goggles and safety vests. While we staged a few accidents for training purposes (severed arms, anyone?), no one was injured in the making of this video.
We started on a lake in Eagle Lake, TX. The scene had the talent and crew taking a boat to a dredge to film a drowning scenario. The talent did not actually go into the water, but through camera angles and cuts we were able to make it look like he fell into the water and was being pulled onto the dredge. We then used a manikin to perform CPR and first aid.
Our most memorable scene was filmed at a mine in Burnet, TX. Amputation, although rare, happens in the mining industry and we had Hawgfly Productions (https://hawgfly.com) provide the fake blook and arm to show the severity of the injury.
Whether it’s filming in an environment that requires extra safety measures or simply providing a safe production set during this pandemic, our video production services is ready to meet any location and safety challenge.
